Amanda Farrell, PMHNP
I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota before going on to become a Registered Nurse and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. My career began working as a psychiatric nurse on the inpatient unit at Denver Health. Here I worked with children, adolescents and adults who were in acute crisis, needing assistance with emotional and behavioral needs. In addition, I have worked in home health, providing psychiatric care in the patient’s home allowing for a smooth transition from the hospital.
I provide integrative care, working with the patient’s health care provider and therapist. I believe in a holistic treatment approach to provide optimal health and overall wellness, and I practice evidence-based treatment. I do believe medication plays an important role in wellness and mental health. My treatment goals include providing improved quality of life and I am eager to work with patients who are motivated to make personal changes.
It is important to me to develop a therapeutic relationship with my patients to provide the best care. I respect and encourage my patients to be involved in their treatment as I feel this provides the best outcome for the patient. Also, being a mom, I also understand the importance of working with not just the patient, but families to provide the best care. I enjoy working in the out-patient setting, seeing long-term improvements in wellness and mental health.
I moved to Colorado in 2007 and love the outdoors. My weekends are spent with my family, including my husband and two young boys. During my free time I enjoy road and mountain biking, skiing, camping, and traveling!
