Genetic Testing for Personalized Psychiatric Medication

Genetic Testing for Medication Selection

Wellness Psychiatry offers personalized medicine through Genomind’s genetic testing. The Genecept Assay looks at the individual’s genotype, allowing the provider to select medication specific to the patient. This test is helpful to those who have struggled to find therapeutic relief with medication or for those who have struggled with side effects. Optimal mental health is achieved when medication can be tailored as much as possible to the individual. Be assured that your route to mental health will be personalized, productive, and compassionate with the help of our providers and Genetic Testing for Medication Selection.

The Struggle with Traditional Mental Health Medication Selection

Ineffective Treatments

The standard practice in psychiatry is to prescribe widely available medicines and monitor their effects. Medication is not always a one-size-fits-all. Individuals can metabolize and react differently to medications sometimes rendering treatments ineffective as they may be too harsh or not making enough impact.

Adverse Side Effects

Some individuals may experience severe side effects from prescribed medications, ranging from physical discomfort to exacerbation of mental health symptoms, just to mention a few.

Prolonged Struggle for Relief

Finding the proper prescription may take time and emotional energy, which can add to frustration, financial stress, and feelings of isolation.

Understanding the Need for Medication Personalization

Because of differences in genetic makeup, everyone’s body reacts differently to medications. Genetic Testing for Medication Selection helps your provider better understand you so that the medication prescribed has a better chance of providing optimal results.

Genetic Testing for Medication Selection:
A Revolutionary Approach

To determine how your body reacts to various medications, we use cutting-edge genetic testing technologies.

How It Works

Specimen Collection

A DNA sample is collected by a non-invasive buccal swab during your visit to Wellness Psychiatry. This test can also be sent to the individual’s home.

Comprehensive Genetic Analysis

To determine how different psychiatric medications may affect you, our experts will examine your sample and look for certain genetic markers.

Personalized Recommendations

With this genetic information, your psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner will be able to prescribe the most effective medication for you with the fewest possible negative effects.

Tailored Treatment Plans

Our service ensures that your treatment plan is developed with your genetic profile in mind, offering a higher probability of success.

Reduced Trial-and-Error

By eliminating the needless time and emotional cost of trial-and-error medicine selection, we can more effectively treat patients.

Minimized Side Effects

We can lessen the likelihood of negative medication reactions if we have a good idea of how your body will react to individual medications.

Empowered Decision Making

With this individualized approach, you and your doctor will have more data at your disposal, increasing the likelihood of making sound decisions about your care.

Transforming Lives Through Personalized Care

Here at Wellness Psychiatry, we think that each person’s mental health treatment should be tailored to them specifically. More than just a test, our Genetic Testing for Medication Selection service is a dedication to getting to the bottom of what you really need from your treatment.

Cost, Insurance, and Discounts

Genetic Testing is billed to insurance. Unfortunately, most insurance plans will not cover the full cost of the genetic testing. The genetic testing, that is not covered by insurance, typically costs $399. To streamline the process, Genomind contacts your insurance before processing the genetic test.

Our services are designed to be easily accessible and reasonably priced. You can pay with any major credit card, cash, or check. A $200 down-payment is required at the time of booking for the Intake Appointment for those not using insurance. We work with many different insurance companies.

For those insurance companies we do not work with, a comprehensive invoice can be sent to you, to submit to your insurance, for possible reimbursement.

Active duty and veteran military personnel are eligible for a 20% discount in recognition of their service.

what our clients say

I was extremely apprehensive on my first visit because I was in a very bad mental state. Amanda was very thorough, very friendly, and made me feel very comfortable from the very beginning. As I recovered I looked forward to our visits but in the end we mutually decided that it was time for me to leave the nest and fly away. If I ever need her I can always call on her. There was something about the layout of the office, the furnishings, and the calming energy that always put me at ease. My first encounter with psychiatric counseling was definitely a positive experience and something that I'll cherish.
Charles
This office is amazing! Anyone who struggles with mental health or neurodivergence knows how frustrating and overwhelming advocating for yourself can be. I recently transitioned from a GP to seeing Jordan Gough with Wellness Psychiatry. My hope was to have a bit less frustration with medication management for ADHD. Transitioning to this office has been a life changing experience. I left my first appointment feeling supported and understood for the first time in 20 years. I feel like Jordan honestly cares and listens. Her compassion and empathy is palpable and I honestly feel like I have someone who WANTS to help me.
Briana
Wellness has been awesome. I’ve seen Jordan Gough for the last couple weeks now. As an adult being treated for ADHD for the first time in my life, I walked into the experience a little nervous. Jordan has made me feel comfortable from the get-go. She does a great job of making sure I understand all the science-y stuff that goes into ADHD and treatment without making me feel dumb or confused. If Jordan, as a knowledgeable, professional, and caring psychiatrist, is the standard for Wellness then you know the place is great.
Erin
This is the best psychiatry practice I have been to. Everyone I have worked with has been empathetic and understanding. The office feels very warm and I feel very taken care of. I always know when I call or email, Riley will be super responsive to my needs. Highly recommend!
Ellen
Amanda has been incredibly helpful. I'm much happier and more productive.
