Jessica brings over 20 years of experience in healthcare, with a background rooted in nursing, midwifery, and social work. Her career began with service in the Peace Corps, followed by earning a Master of Social Work from University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University. She has spent the past two decades as a nurse-midwife, working in a variety of settings, including providing OB/GYN care to incarcerated individuals for over 10 years. She is strongly committed advocating for patients from diverse backgrounds and those who face barriers to accessing healthcare.
Throughout her career, Jessica has been passionate about patient advocacy and empowering individuals to take an active role in their own healthcare. Her transition into psychiatry reflects a natural extension of her longstanding interest in the connection between physical, emotional, and mental well-being. She recognizes that each person brings unique experiences, challenges, and perspectives to their healthcare journey and believes that meaningful care begins with listening, understanding, and building trust.
Jessica takes a holistic, collaborative approach to mental health care, emphasizing patient autonomy, shared decision-making, and individualized treatment. She strives to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make informed decisions about their care. Her goal is to work in partnership with patients to develop treatment plans that reflect their individual needs, values, and goals.
